Ello Ello
Hey everybody. My name is Bren Donohue and this is my blog about breweries. I am very serious when it comes to my beer and breweries because I went to college originally to get a degree in brewing. So, I am hoping that this site will help people recognize some beers that I believe to be of high quality. Since I am from Long Island, most of the breweries listed will be from the east coast of the US. However, there may be one or two imports listed. I am not really sure yet because I need to see what beers wow me this year. Right now, I can safely say that there are a few that will make the list automatically unless something drastic happens. When you are reading my posts, please feel free to think of questions or suggestions that you have for my messages. For example, I can be deeper and more technical about how the beer is made, what it tastes like, or who makes it at any time. So, never be shy to tell me what you want to hear. Also, I personally favor darker beers so you may realize that as you read my posts. However, there is no need to worry if you like lighter beers. I will definitely post on at least one or two high quality light beers. My goal is to get something for everyone up here. The bottomline is that I am a kid from Long Island who goes to the University of Delaware, and I hope to better some of the beer choices made in this world. So sit back and relax, we have a semester of brews ahead of us.
Take care

Nice blog you got goin on here. I work over at Iron Hill Brewery so all I do is talk beer when I'm there. If you've never been there, I highly suggest trying it. I'll tell you a little bit about the place, if you've never been there, and then you can come back and post a review on Iron Hill's beers if you want.
The Iron Hill Light Lager is the lightest beer they produce. It is blonde in color, light in body, and brewed to taste similar to your typical domestic light beer (Bud, Coors, Miller, etc.)
The Anvil Ale is often referred to as a "session beer" because of its easy drinking. This medium bodied beer is copper in color, and has a slightly malty, spicy-hoppy flavor and aroma.
The Lodestone Lager is a two-time medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival. The brewing sytle of this beer is referred to as a Munich Helles. It is blonde in color, medium in body, with a malty-sweet flavor, and a floral-hoppy finish.
The Ironbound Ale is an American Pale Ale, or APA for short. This medium bodiied beer is amber in color. The flavor and finish is dominated by the presence of four different domestic hops.
The Pig Iron Porter is a traditional London porter, and two-time medal winner at the Real Ale Festival. This is the darkest been they make, though it is only medium bodied. The flavor of this beer is roasty-chocolaty.
The Raspberry Wheat is an American wheat brew made with real raspberry concentrate. This straw colored beer has a light body and a strong raspberry aroma, yet only a slight raspberry taste.
We also have one cask conditioned brew, normally the Anvil Ale.
Our current seasonal beers include the Belgian Brown Ale and the Belgian White.
The Belgian Brown Ale is medium bodied, high in alcohol content, with a malty-sweet flavor, with a plum aroma.
The Belgian White is made with hints of orange and coriander. It is unfiltered, which contributes to its cloudy color. This beer is very similar to a Hoegarden.
As you can see, we have quite the variety. If you're ever in the mood to talk beers, and you need someone to talk about it with, Iron Hill is definately the place to chill.

Hey Jonathan,
Amazing does not even begin to describe the comment that you left. I am more than familiar with Iron Hill, and I am also very impressed with the brews over there. Particularly, the Lodestone Lager and Pig Iron Porter are my favorites. Hopefully, that will give you an idea of the types of beers that I like. Thank you for putting so much information about Iron Hill on the site. You put my efforts to shame so far. I am thoroughly impressed with your knowledge of beer, and I hope that I can show you some new and good brews through this site. Thanks so much for the post.
Have a great day,
Bren
